People often joke about the “alphabet soup” of gender and sexual identity. The list of letters following the original ‘LGB’ has definitely grown. But the importance of those letters is not a joke. Each letter represents gender identities and sexual orientations that our fellow human beings experience…
And each letter recognizes the struggle to be seen and respected. So, let’s get serious about this real issue: When people’s core identities are disrespected or marginalized, the normal response is distress. We see unacceptable rates of distress in the LGBTQIA+ community. Why? Not feeling seen or accepted for who they are. We have to stay current with the needs of the people we serve. One of those needs is understanding one’s gender identity and sexual orientation.
In our new course, Living in a Nonbinary World, gender and sexual identity expert Dr. Sarah Burgamy, gives you the information you need to serve your clients. In this concise course, you’ll get the tools you need to understand gender diversity and navigate a rapidly evolving cultural landscape. When you understand the breadth of the human gender experience, you will be more effective working with both cisgender folks AND gender-diverse folks.
You will be more capable, more ethical, and more comfortable serving all genders.
