Course Details
BG Mancini is a Neurodevelopmental Specialist, Advanced Certified in Functional Medicine, licensed since 2013 as an Acupuncture Physician and Primary Care Provider. She is the founder of The Brain & Gut Institute and creator of The Family Nervous System® that helps families understand that healing is never just one person in the living organism we call a family and requires connection to self and each other.
With almost 30 years of clinical practice, she has worked with children and adults to unlock their unique potential through biomedical, nervous system, and neurodevelopmental practices.
Throughout her career, BG has personally worked with over 7,000 patients and trained an estimated 600 clinicians. She shares the importance of including Interoception, Proprioception, Neuroception, Sensory Processing, Interhemispheric Movement, and Nutrition in any conversation about addictions, autism, physical and mental health.
As an international speaker and trainer, she focuses on educating therapists, clinicians, educators, and medical providers about the underlying factors driving external reactions labeled as “behaviors.” She advocates for holistic support to achieve homeostasis in the nervous system state and recover balance in the lives of patients and clients.
By combining what we now know through Dr. Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal Theory and the latest in research on the Brain-gut Axis, she makes the information “digestible,” for everyone so they can understand and implement tools for their own lives and those with whom they work.
She uniquely brings to light how our physiological state ultimately determines our reaction to our inner and outer world.

clinical training series exploring how the nervous system, sensory systems, brain-gut
axis, physiology, environment, sleep, inflammation, stress, and cumulative daily inputs
interact to shape the lived experience of ADHD, autism, and AuDHD. The course is designed to help clinicians, therapists, and individuals better understand
how sensory and physiological load can influence emotional regulation, communication,
focus, flexibility, executive functioning, overwhelm, recovery, and access to daily
functioning throughout the day. Participants will learn how cumulative sensory, metabolic, emotional, cognitive, and
environmental demands may contribute to fluctuating nervous system states and how
these patterns can be recognized through a practical systems-based lens. The course
also explores how increasing awareness of these patterns can help restore agency,
reduce shame and support more flexible, connected nervous system functioning.
Throughout the series, participants will be introduced to practical autonomic
organizational tools and MicroResets™ that can be integrated into clinical care, home
environments, and daily routines to support regulation, predictability, recovery,
communication, and resilience. The course is organized into three 90-minute sessions:
Session 1 explores the Brain-Gut connection in ADHD and autism, including the
Metabolic Window of Tolerance, gut-brain signaling, sleep, blood sugar regulation,
inflammation, interoception, and physiological contributors that may impact nervous
system state, emotional regulation, and behavior. Session 2 focuses on sensory processing, overload, and nervous system state,
examining how sensory input, environmental demands, and cumulative sensory load can influence communication, flexibility, emotional regulation, and access to functioning.
Participants will also explore sensory-informed and movement-based supports. Session 3 examines capacity, fluctuating access to skills, and state-dependent
functioning. Participants will explore how nervous system state, sensory load, chronic
stress, transitions, masking, and available reserves may influence communication,
executive functioning, emotional regulation, and daily functioning over time.
Across all sessions, participants will learn how to apply the lens of Frequency, Intensity,
and Duration (FID) to identify patterns contributing to dysregulation, recognize factors
influencing recovery and nervous system flexibility, and observe where reserves may be
building over time through improved regulation, recovery, and access to daily
functioning.
Neurodivergence in Practice: A Brain-Body Framework for ADHD and Autism in Clinical Care
Agenda
Live Zoom Session 1 – August 17th, 9am PDT/12pm EDT – The Brain-Gut Connection in ADHD & Autism – 2 Hours – 2 CEs
This session introduces participants to the Brain-Gut-Sensory framework and explores
how physiology, nervous system state, sleep, inflammation, interoception, blood sugar
regulation, sensory load, and gut-brain signaling may influence emotional regulation,
flexibility, communication, focus, behavior, and recovery in ADHD, autism, and AuDHD.
Participants will explore how cumulative physiological load may contribute to fluctuating
nervous system states and how developing language around these experiences can
help restore agency, reduce shame, and improve clinical understanding. Practical
autonomic organizational tools and introductory MicroResets™ will be introduced and
practiced throughout the session as somatic interventions that can be integrated into
clinical work and daily life.
Session Agenda:
- Introduction to the Brain-Gut-Sensory framework and integrated systems lens (15 minutes)
- Understanding nervous system state, physiology, and the Metabolic Window of Tolerance (15 minutes)
- Exploring gut-brain signaling, sleep, blood sugar regulation, inflammation, and interoception in relation to regulation and behavior (20 minutes)
- Understanding Frequency, Intensity, and Duration (FID) patterns to identify physiological contributors impacting nervous system state and capacity in the moment (15 minutes)
- Introduction to MicroResetsTM and autonomic organizational tools for supporting regulation, proprioception, grounding, and HRV, including experiential somatic practices participants can use clinically and personally (15 minutes)
- Clinical application, reflection, and participant discussion (15 minutes)
- Questions and answers (25 minutes)
- Understanding sensory processing and autonomic nervous system state (15
minutes) - Exploring the impact of sound, lighting, transitions, clutter, screens,
unpredictability, and environmental input on regulation and functioning (20
minutes) - Understanding shutdown, agitation, sensory overload, and fluctuating access to
communication and flexibility (20 minutes) - Applying Frequency, Intensity, and Duration (FID) patterns to identify sensory
contributors impacting dysregulation and recovery (15 minutes) - Deepening MicroResets™ through sensory, auditory, environmental, and
movement-based supports, including guided somatic practices participants can
integrate into therapy sessions and daily environments (20 minutes) - Clinical application, participant reflection, and discussion (10 minutes)
- Questions and answers (20 minutes)
This session explores how nervous system state, sensory load, chronic stress,
masking, transitions, social demand, and physiological reserves may influence
fluctuating access to executive functioning, emotional regulation, communication,
flexibility, and daily functioning. Participants will examine state-dependent functioning
through an integrated systems lens and explore how layered autonomic supports and
MicroResets™ may help support recovery, predictability, flexibility, and reserve-building
over time. Participants will also engage in experiential somatic practices designed to
support regulation, co-regulation, sensory organization, and nervous system flexibility. Session Agenda:
- Understanding capacity, reserves, and state-dependent functioning (20 minutes)
- Exploring the impact of chronic stress, transitions, masking, social demand, and sensory load on executive functioning and emotional regulation (20 minutes)
- Understanding fluctuating access to communication, organization, flexibility, and daily functioning through nervous system state (20 minutes)
- Using Frequency, Intensity, and Duration (FID) patterns to observe reserve-building, recovery, and changes in regulation over time (15 minutes)
- Layering MicroResets™ through sound, movement, visual input, rhythm, proprioception, co-regulation, and environmental supports, including experiential somatic interventions for clinical and personal use (15 minutes)
- Clinical application, participant reflection, and discussion (10 minutes)
- Questions and answers (20 minutes)
