Content Description:
Session 1 Overview:There is considerable recent research in neuroscience that shows that emotion determines cognition and behavior in every moment and that emotion needs to be embodied for the brain to be able to optimally process a situation cognitively, emotionally, and behaviorally. Using this research as its scientific basis, the practice of embodying emotions has been developed to teach clinicians how to access and regulate emotions in the body to improve cognitive, emotional, and behavioral outcomes in all therapy modalities. In the session, the scientific basis and benefits of embodying emotions for all therapy modalities will be presented first, then clinical examples, followed by a step-by-step description of the four-step practice of embodying emotions. Session 1 Education Goals:
The clinicians will have a greater understanding of what embodying emotions is, its scientific basis, and why it is important for improving treatment times and cognitive, emotional, and behavioral outcomes in every therapeutic approach they use in their practice. They will also learn a step-by-step approach for how to implement the practice of embodying emotions in their practice. Session 2 Overview:
In this session, the video of a clinical demonstration session of embodying emotions will be shown and explained, followed by Q&A from the audience. In the video, one can learn how we can efficiently heal emotional wounds from childhood when we use somatic techniques to access, support, and embody emotions. The demonstration session is with a student who was unable to forgive and grieve her mother, who passed away recently. I worked with the unresolved hurt from a representative childhood wound in her relationship with her mother. You’ll see how, in just one session, the client was able to overcome the emotional wound efficiently and forgive her mother once we applied the practice of embodying emotions using physical body and subtle body techniques. It is a great example of how to resolve a deep wound in just one session, leaving the client with an open heart, filled with love, compassion, forgiveness, and gratitude. Session 2 Education Goals:
The clients will, through watching a clinical demonstration session of embodying emotions, get a more nuanced step-by-step, empirical, and practical understanding of how to go about accessing and embodying emotions in their practice and of its benefits.
