Content Description:
Therapies are increasingly incorporating somatics, including implicit experiences from the prenatal and perinatal time. Birth psychology, or the study of how earliest experiences may impact human development throughout the lifespan, examines patterns of experience starting preconception. Additional layers may be broken down into conception, prenatal dynamics, birth and after birth. This talk presents how the roots of health originate in our prenatal and perinatal period, and how to recognize and reach these experiences. If there is trauma here, it will impact how we grow. New developments in healing implicit preverbal trauma include prenatal and perinatal somatics. Practitioners of all kinds can learn skills of Recognition and ways to Reach these earliest experiences.
Once professionals get the sense of what is possible for healing earliest trauma, they want to know specific skills. I have developed several maps to help professionals learn. This session will explore the “how” of how to work with early trauma. Some clients need a corrective experience, which is an attachment sequence. For those clients who are ready for transformation we use a somatic approach to being with trauma states (autonomic nervous system reactions) so that they can integrate. I will introduce the work of several pioneers in the field. There will be several group practices. Attendees will walk away with a description of the skills needed.
